The current situation
Leaflets are an essential part of pharmaceutical packaging, providing:
- Directions on how to take the medication
- Possible contraindications, side effects or even mandatory legal information
Leaflets use a thick (50 – 60g/m², calipers 65 – 80µm), lignin containing grade of paper, which is usually folded several times. This format has been the standard on last 100 years!
However, there are several issues with the standard leaflet:
- Leaflet is very large when fully unfolded, the font is small, and information is difficult to find.
- It is very inconvenient to use, is very difficult to fold back up, and does not match the packaging.
- There are a limited number of language versions on the same leaflet.
- Each leaflet version requires its own stock item number, packaging process, and warehouse space, resulting in extra logistics and warehouse costs.

Bible paper is totally different from standard leaflet paper:
- It is extremely thin (29 – 36g/m², calipers 33 – 34µm), contains no lignin, and is usually used in Bibles and legal books. There is no need for any folding.
- The unique thin bible paper leaflets (coated and, high-opacity) are provided in a handy booklet format.
